Young Persons Car Insurance
It can be especially difficult to find inexpensive car insurance for young people. When you are under 25, insurance companies consider you a risk on the road. This is probably due to lack of experience and judgement. However, there are a few things you can do to get discounts and lower rates when searching for young persons car insurance.
Students
If you are currently a student here are some things you can do to get lower rates.
Get good grades – often times, insurance companies will give good grade discounts. The reason for this is because it is statistically accurate to say that young people with good grades are less risky and get into less accidents on the road.
Maintain a good driving record – If you haven’t had any moving violations in the past 2-3 years, you are often eligible for a good driver discount. However, if you are just getting your license, you might not be eligible in your first few years of driving.
Take A Certified Defensive Driver Course
Whether you’re a student or not, you might be able to lower your car insurance rates by taking a certified defensive driver course. Check with your insurance provider to find out your eligibility and to get more information as to which courses will provide you with the discount. Getting certified as a defensive driver every few years might be worth it to you in the long run.
Still Living At Home?
If you still live at your parent’s house, I suggest trying to get insured with your parents. Your parents will likely have lower insurance rates than you and they might be able to get you discounts like multi-car discount, car-home discount, multi-driver discount, and more.
